Information about Rev. Vicki Hobbs, Sr. Pastor, Acton United Methodist Church
Born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana; oldest of three girls
Met husband, Rick Hobbs, while students at Indiana Central College (now UIndy). Lived in Shelbyville 17 years, teaching and directing Adult Education programs at Blue River Vocational Technical Center for 12 years, while Rick worked for Knauf Fiber Glass in finance and marketing. First Vicki, then Rick made “mid-life” career changes and Rick is currently an emergency room RN at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, after working in the ER at Methodist Hospital for 10 years.
Vicki and Rick have 2 children: Aaron, who is an ordained UMC pastor, currently serving on staff at Fishers UMC, is married to Pike Township third-grade teacher Michele (from Crawfordsville). Amber, who is an emergency room RN at Methodist Hospital, is married to Danny Walker (from Evansville), an ordained UMC pastor, currently serving on staff at Meridian Street UMC in Indianapolis. Yes, there seems to be a pattern here.
Rev. Vicki’s educational background includes - BS in elementary education, U of I MAE in elementary education and Adult and Community Education, BSU Master of Divinity, Methodist Theological School of Ohio Additional post-graduate hours at Christian Theological Seminary
In addition to a student appointment in East Ohio Conference, Rev. Hobbs has served the following appointments in South Indiana Conference, where she is an elder in full connection - Irvington UMC in Indianapolis St. Andrew UMC in Indianapolis Zionsville UMC and most recently for the past 7 years, Cicero UMC
In 2004, Rev. Hobbs received a Lilly Endowment Clergy Renewal Grant and spent 4 months on sabbatical. She and her family did a Wesley tour of England and she and Rick drove Route 66 from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA. Then Vicki spent the month of September volunteering at McCurdy UMC Mission School in Espanella, New Mexico as a teaching assistant.
Rick and Vicki have a home in Lakeland, FL, where they enjoy vacationing and plan to spend more time some day in retirement.
